What is Reiki?

Reiki is a deeply relaxing hands-on energy balancing technique that was rediscovered in the early 1900s by a Japanese man by the name of Mikao Usui. It works with our body's innate ability to heal and restore. It can reduce stress, facilitate personal healing and often diminishes pain. Sessions may help release blocked energy due to stress or trauma.

What can I expect during a Reiki treatment?

Reiki treatments take place in the same office as my massage therapy treatments. A stand-alone session typically lasts one hour or you can choose a 30 minute add-on treatment to your massage.

You will remain fully clothed for your Reiki treatment. During the session the practitioner will use a series of hand placements to facilitate the energy balance in the body and the chakras (the seven main energy centers in the body).

Most people feel very relaxed and peaceful during a treatment, you may even fall asleep. Some people notice physical sensations, such as tingling, lightness or heaviness, or can visualize different colors.  You may have an emotional release as Reiki is helping to clear energy that may be blocked from stress or past trauma.

Reiki can help to support you mentally, emotionally and physically. It encourages a state of balance where wellness can thrive.
